Hey Everybody, Its here, my blog, I'm a blogger now. Its some how less prestigious than I imagined. Check back here for undates on my travels and studies in the Far East.
I'll be studying the harmonium in Calcutta for most of the trip so there may be days where I won't have much to post unless people want to hear about raga and tala. Its funny that I'm going to go to India for two months without seeing that much. In a way though I'll be connecting with the county in a broader sense by studying its classical music (at least the northern practices, which are based on improvisation and more directly applicable to jazz) and learning about its cultural spirit. So perhaps this blog will give me a chance to develop my thoughts regarding that subject and compare the Hindustani musical agenda with that of jazz.
We shall see.
